Documentary-Style Destination Wedding Photography in Italy
When it comes to photographing weddings, my goal is to be more than just someone with a camera in hand. I aim to feel like a trusted friend, blending into the background and catching those emotional moments.
For Giulia and Fraser, it was important that the images felt effortless and true to their day. My relaxed, friendly demeanour meant I could put them at ease, allowing their personalities to shine through.
Giulia and Fraser had a really unique Italian wedding, with Scottish ceilidh dancing under the Italian stars and personal touches incorporated throughout the day.
I wanted their photos to reflect not just the beauty of their venues and décor but also the palpable love and laughter they shared with their family and friends.
Having worked in a variety of settings and weather conditions, I came prepared for the unexpected torrential rain that threatened to dampen the ceremony. But as the skies cleared just in time, I was ready to snap the moments of relief and joy as everyone gathered under the cloisters!
My super-organised approach and ability to adapt to the rhythm of the day meant I could focus on capturing the love story as it unfolded, naturally and beautifully.

Expert Italian Wedding Suppliers Who Brought the Day to Life
An Italian wedding like Giulia and Fraser’s is only possible with the support of talented and passionate suppliers, each bringing something special to the day.
Here’s a little glimpse into the team that helped create this magic.
Caterer – Guidi Lenci
Food is a central element of any Italian wedding, and Guidi Lenci took it to an entirely new level. Their dedication to quality and creativity was unmatched, from the delectable caramelised pear and goat’s cheese tortellini to the stunning aperitif spreads of meats, cheeses, and fried canapés.
The team worked tirelessly to set everything up in record time after the rain cleared, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests. The best part? A classic Italian Meringata cake that guests raved about long after the day was over!
Bridal Gown and Accessories
Giulia’s wedding dress journey was nothing short of serendipitous. Visiting Morgan Davies Bridal in Islington during a sample sale, she found not just one, but two dresses in a matter of 45 minutes.
The standout piece, a Jesús Peiró gown, was love at first sight — it fit perfectly and featured the ever-practical addition of pockets, which Giulia adored. The timeless style of the design made it an ideal choice for her Italian wedding, complementing the understated yet romantic aesthetic of the wedding.
To complete her bridal look, Giulia selected a pair of heels from Charlotte Mills. Knowing the venue’s cobbled pavements, she opted for sturdy, chunky heels that provided comfort without compromising on style.
In keeping with her silver, green, and white colour theme, the shoes added a subtle yet cohesive finishing touch to her outfit. These choices not only enhanced her confidence but also made sure she could move effortlessly through the day’s celebrations, from the ceremony to the lively dancing into the early hours!
Wedding Stationary
The invitations and order of service were bespoke designs from Curious Me Designs, featuring exquisite hand-drawn illustrations paired with elegant calligraphy.
Pinar, the creative force behind the brand, was an absolute delight to work with, bringing a personal touch to every detail.
Entertainment
For the entertainment, the couple chose a lively mix of a local DJ and a Scottish ceilidh band — the only one in all of Italy! The combination ensured the dancefloor was packed with energy and laughter.
Bridesmaids Dresses
For the bridesmaids, their sage green wrap dresses, sourced from The Dainty Yard on Etsy, perfectly complemented the peaceful Italian backdrop.
Paired with their delicate flower crowns, the look was effortlessly stylish, blending beautifully with the natural setting. The bride felt so fortunate to have such stunning friends by her side during her Italian wedding!
Videographer
Choosing the right videographer for their wedding was an important decision, as they wanted a cinematic yet natural documentation of their day. After much research, we decided on an Irish duo from Birds of a Feather.
Their style resonated with the couple instantly — organic and heartfelt, capturing emotions without excessive stylisation.
What really stood out in the final video was how effortlessly they pieced together the atmosphere of the Italian wedding, from the laughter during the morning preparations to the energy of the Ceilidh dancing late into the night. The footage felt personal and true to who we are as a couple!
Florist – Le Petit Jardin
The floral arrangements from Le Petit Jardinv were the perfect finishing touch to the romantic setting. Giulia’s flower crown added a touch of whimsy to her bridal look, making her feel like royalty for the day.
The team at Le Petit Jardin worked closely with Giulia to bring her vision to life, adapting to her many changes of heart with patience and creativity.
Venues – Abbazia Montelabate and Castello Ramazzano
The ceremony took place at the gorgeous Abbazia Montelabate, a monastery full of history.
The reception followed at Castello Ramazzano, a newly renovated castle with breathtaking views and no curfew — a perfect choice for a night of dancing until 4:30 a.m.! The venue’s vibe and the owners’ hospitality added so much magic to their Italian wedding.
